Gardening group

So, on Facebook i have found a very interesting group and hit join and hold and behold, yeah, the owner accepted my request.

The owner had an idea that he would select 40 members to join him and his wife's experiment.  I hit join in that too.

So they sent out packets of seed to those who sent in their emails and home addresses. And I got to be in Group A with 5 different packets of seeds. Opened package yesterday and felt excitement and just simply happy. This is going to be a whole lot of fun. He said that we can all plant away since he had quite a bit of people from different zones. All members are only within the US.

So what I got are the following.

  1. Kale Prism
  2. Tomato Fantastico
  3. Radish Roxanne
  4. Basil Dolce Fresca
  5. Pepper Pretty N Sweet

So, my next step is to start the fun, play in dirt and see what comes up.woo hoo.

Red fountain

Purchased this red fountain a year ago so we can watch hummingbirds bathing. And to add color to my backyard as well.

We purchased this nice red fountain from Kmart last year in the spring. With the hope of seeing hummingbird bathing on it. As soon as we got it, I set it up right away. It was very easy to set up. Everything came with it but water and the power. It's very nice accent for my backyard and so entertaining as well, with different kind of birds getting some hydration and taking baths.

A week later being set up and running, we didn't see anything go at it or investagating the fountain. I was hopeless after a month with no bird interested of it. So I told myself, "well, it's a nice piece of fountain and I like my backyard with it". So I'd feel better.

Well, one afternoon I sat under the lemon tree, I saw hummingbird bathing. So happy I ran inside to tell husband what I saw. From then on, everytime I sit outside, I made sure I have my camera with me so I can video it. And pretty succesful with it.

Parsley worm butterfly)

I planted parley last year ( early summer) for the purpose of attracting this particular butterfly.

So , March 07 of this year, I tried to clean my flower bed so I can plant some colorful flowers or some veggies. Well, as I'm pulling dead leaves off of my parsley, this is what I saw.

early stage of eastern black swallowtail.
I decided to pick them and shelter them so they will survive. I put them in the little plastice cage I have that my son used for his earthworm before.

Since I live in Los Angeles area, I'm not really sure if this is Eastern Black swallowtail. I've read places on the net and they all talk about eastern swallowtail.

So, I am really curious as to what this worm will become. I will for sure blog it later. But for now this is what they look like yesterday.
